Mumbai Strikers SC began their campaign with a victory over State Bank of India by a scoreline of 2-1 in their inaugural game of the Super Division season. The Strikers played their first game ever at the newly built Mumbai Football Arena better known as Andheri Sports Complex which has been ratified as a venue for the Super Division this year.

MS were in for an early goal as MS forward Reuel K earned a penalty after a careless tackle on him from an SBI defender. Ravish D stepped up to the spot to finish calmly and set up MS a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute. MS had to make do with 10-men for the rest of the game as Melron M was sent off for violent conduct and is set to miss the next match of the season. Taking advantage of a man extra, SBI managed to equalize near to half time as their striker caught the MS defense napping and made the best of the through pass. In the second half, MS pressed up field and missed as many chances as they created. However, in the dying minutes of the game, Ravish D slammed another through a free kick and made sure MS had all three points on their way home.

MS have won one out of one and preparations are on for the rest of the season. Coach Firmin D expressed his happiness and also mentioned that there is a long way to go and a lot to do this season.
