After a long selection process, Mumbai Strikers’ Lavanya Adusumalli has made it to the India U18 Girls Rugby team that will represent the nation at the Asia Rugby U18 Girls Rugby Sevens Championship. The tournament is set to be held at Tashkent, Uzbekistan on the 18th and 19th of September 2021.
Lavanya made the cut from among 54 girls who were selected for the U18 Indian Girls Camp that was conducted at Bhubaneshwar, Odisha for nearly a month from 14th August, 2021. Apart from Lavanya, Vaishnavi Patil from Kolhapur and Aakansha Katkade from Nashik were selected from the state of Maharashtra. The tournament has five participants in home team Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, UAE, Kazakhstan and India.
Lavanya, was born in Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh, but brought up in Mumbai. She loves adventures and is intensely passionate about rugby as well. Lavanya considers her parents as role models as they have always been supportive of her decisions and helped her give her best in whatever she does. A hardworking individual on the field, Lavanya’s efforts have borne fruit in the form of this opportunity.
